All is not well
It has been a while since my last update, the reason is not much has happened in the last days. The reason for that is again a medical one.
On the first day of diving I did here I accidentally hit the slow turning propellor of the boat’s engine. The result was a bleeding cut on my elbow which stopped bleeding quickly enough. A week after the cut however, and at the moment my stomach was feeling better again, my forearm and elbow started to swell up to the point I had to go to the local hospital. The doctor there concluded that my vitals were fine but the wound had become inflammated. For that I was given antibiotics. Because I was not sure if I could dive with the received medication I contacted my regular diving doctor in The Netherlands. He told me that the medication is no reason not to dive but the cut itself actually is. The bacteria in the seawater makes the chance of superinfection of the wound high, the advice was clear; no diving untill the wound closes.
So this means I have spend the last 5 days at the divecentre missing a total of 10 dives I could have made. I spend my days reading a bit and filling the divetanks. To be quite honest I have been to a point that I just wanted to return home. I came here for the diving and I only got 2 days of diving in the first 2 weeks here. Hopefully I will be diving tomorrow, hope remains…
