Menorca is dead, long live Oman!
Most of you probably know that I had plans to leave to Menorca and help as a diveguide in a local dive center. Unfortunately 2 weeks before I would head over there the whole thing was cancelled, I reckon you can imagine I was quite gutted over this.
As the title of this posts suggests though, a lot happened in the week following this news…
Earlier this year I had contact with a dive centre in Oman through Workaway, the organisation I had been working at 2 places with in Canada last year. They didn’t have use of me at the dive centre back then but they were very enthusiastic about me coming to them the summer season. We e-mailed back and forth a few times and a week ago we had a telephone conversation which was very pleasant.
To make a long story short: I AM FLYING TO DUBAI ON THE FIRST OF AUGUST! And I am super excited!
Even though it’s very hot the diving is supposed to be excelent and it gives me the opportunity to see a country you don’t get to go too often and experience a culture that is totally new to me.
So I leave on August 1 to Dubai, from there I will be picked up and brought to Oman. I will stay in their guesthouse and will spend my days in the dive centre and on the boat.
So it seems that the silver lining to this cloud is very bright!
